Baking Soda Acne Treatment

Baking soda acne masks and homemade creams are quite common among people affected by this skin disorder, this product being known for its efficiency in cleaning the skin, unclogging the pores, exfoliating and eliminating the dead cells from the skin’s surface.

But how exactly does baking soda help acne sufferers? The use of baking soda for acne symptoms reduction is based on the ability of this substance to lower the pH levels and to counteract the acidity on the epidermis, this being one of the factors that favors bacterial overgrowth, encouraging the formation of acne pimples and blemishes.

Many people use baking soda to treat acne. After washing the face leave it wet. Now three tablespoons of baking soda are mixed with a teaspoon and applied to the area where the outbreak of acne has occurred.   It should be about the same consistency as toothpaste.

For some skin types using baking soda to exfoliate and cleanse your face can be very drying. Therefore it is a good idea to following up the baking soda facial scrub with a moisturiser or honey facial mask to provide good skincare and prevent peeling.

The main benefit of using a baking soda acne solution instead of store bought acne creams and acne medicines is that it is a cheap and readily available way to achieve smooth skin and reduce the redness associated with facial acne.
