Dandruff is an annoying skin disorder of the scalp that causes itching. An itchy scalp itself is annoying enough, but when you itch, you dislodge those dreaded white flakes. While dandruff may not be life threatening, it can be persistent and frustrating. You have two choices when it comes to dandruff. You can cure it with expensive, store-bought products or you can cure it naturally and inexpensively, using items commonly found at home.
What causes dandruff?
Unhygienic hair condition. Not cleaning your hair often enough with shampoo or other natural cleansers. This causes a build up of oils and skin cells from your scalp which causes this condition
Synthetic shampoos. Especially 1 ingredient called ammonium lauryl sulfate causes a lot of dandruff cases
Teatree Oil. You’ve probably seen this as an ingredient in various shampoos but you can also buy the oil separately. Teatree oil is a natural form of antiseptic, which is why it works for this treatment. Pour off some of your regular shampoo and add a few tablespoons of teatree oil into the bottle in the space you’ve just created. Then mix well before applying your shampoo as normal. You’ll need to remember to shake your shampoo bottle before each use if the oil doesn’t fully mix. Experiment with different brands if necessary and use a clear bottle to remind you to do this.
Hot Oil Therapy. Go for a hot oil therapy to treat dandruff. Heat coconut oil or almond oil and apply it on the scalp before going to bed. In the morning, mix cosmetic vinegar with the juice of a lemon and soak a cotton ball in it. Dab the scalp with the cotton. Then wash the hair thoroughly with an egg shampoo. Do this at least twice a week for a period of three months.
Neem juice. Neem juice is also an excellent way to clean the scalp and hair. Grind neem leaves in a food processer and extract the juice. Wash your hair and scalp with this juice. This would keep the dandruff at bay.
