In today’s world, everybody is worried about how they look. However, looking great doesn’t have to take too much time or effort. All you have to do is know what you’re doing.
Determine what type of skin you have: oily, combination, perfectly moisturized, dry, etc. Many cosmetic counters have someone there that can do a preliminary analysis of your skin and recommend some products. If you are on a budget, see what the professional at the cosmetic counter recommends, then go to your local drug store and find a similar product for way less money!
Sunscreen
Start with sunscreen A dewy, fresh complexion is sexy and youthful. Starting with a clean face, apply sunscreen to face and neck (see my list of the Top 10 Sunscreens). Rain or shine, you should get in the habit of applying sunscreen every day.
Concealer
Apply concealer Dot concealer with your ring finger to the spots that need it most (under the eye, along the nose, on the chin). Blend in by patting in, never rubbing, the concealer (see How to Apply Concealer).
Foundation
Foundation is next Apply a tinted moisturizer or foundation to your face making sure to blend along the jawline so you don’t have a tell-tale line.
Blush
Suck in your cheeks and apply color to your cheekbones, working from the temples in. “Just follow the lines of your bones—it’s foolproof,” says Laura Geller, the president of Laura Geller Makeup, in New York City. After applying, look straight into the mirror to make sure that you’ve put the same amount of color on each side
Brows
Defining the eyebrows really makes the eyes pop. Here, Gault uses a pencil that is a slightly lighter shade than the model’s eyebrow. This helps make her eye color more vibrant and brings out the lighter tones in her hair. Follow the shape of the eyebrow and fill it in to enhance your natural brow line.
Mascara
Moving on to mascara Apply mascara by wiggling the wand from the roots of your lashes on through to the ends. To perfect your mascara application, check out How to Apply Mascara.
Lips
To complete this natural look, all you have to do is finish up with the lips. For a daytime look, you’ll want to choose a neutral shade. First use a pencil to line the lips. This will create your lip shape. Then apply a coat of lipstick, and finish off with a matching gloss.
Use a pressed powder to lightly powder the rest of your face, and the area under your eyes. Use very light pressure. Keep your pressed powder in your purse for touch ups.
Once you know how to use makeup , you’ll have an extra secret weapon at your disposal to help you achieve the ultimate in your makeup look for your next special occasion.
