Cosmetic surgery is a form of surgery done primarily to improve a person’s physical appearance like any scars or wrinkles, signs of aging, etc. It can also be done to correct any disfigurement which may have result due to an accident, or is present since birth.

The changes in body chemistry, negative reactions to anesthesia, pain and infection are examples of possible side effects of surgery. The cosmetic surgery , however, carries certain risks that are not typical of other surgical procedures, such as changes in appearance and mental health problems.
Infection is another common side effect of surgery. During the procedure, and during the healing time after the surgery, the patient is vulnerable to infection of the open areas of the tissue. In mild cases an infection may just slow down the amount of time your surgical wounds take to heal. However, in severe cases an infection can spread and even kill you.
Damage to Nerves
Cosmetic surgery may result in nerve damage or loss of sensation in the particular area where it is being performed.
Formation of blood clot is a serious side effect of cosmetic surgery. If clot occurs in areas like brain, it can be life-threatening.
Some cosmetic procedures may result in Decolourization of the skin at the area where it is performed.
Nausea and Vomiting
Nausea and vomiting are the most common side effects after a cosmetic surgery procedure. This is largely due to the use of anesthesia to put the patient under during the operation.
