Orange? Gold? Not the first colors we think of when it comes to eye color, but this lush look is the hippest thing going. The key: “Blending and great formulations,” says Women.com makeup expert Vincent Longo, who created this look for Ford Model Tia White. The result has maximum impact. Here’s what he used: Eyes:
- Bourjois Apricot shadow
- Vincent Longo New York (VLNY) Nile Lotus
- Brown/black liner
Cheeks:
- VLNY Bronze Passion
Lips:
- Lancôme Juicy Tubes Nectar d’Orange and Nectar d’Yellow
- Estée Lauder Sunny Shine Lip gloss
Expert tip: When the weather starts getting warmer, steer clear of heavy lip glosses. Check out super lightweight versions from Stila, Vincent Longo, and Laura Mercier.
Honey
Soft and sexy eyes in pale pink are the perfect go-anywhere makeup statement for summer. “Using different shades of pink is a great way to create depth,” says Longo. Too much of the same pink — on lips, eyes and cheeks — can turn instantly flat and unnatural looking, however. Here are the VLNY products he had on hand: Eyes:
- Viva
- Harem on lid
- Gray liquid liner
- False lashes
Cheeks:
- Urban Rose to start for depth
- Powder pink to soften
Lips:
Expert tip: A great way to pump up eyes without looking like you’re wearing a lot of makeup is to apply false lashes. The key is to cut them so they’re small, easier to apply and completely natural looking.
Bronzeshell
A recent arrival in New York, Click model Linda received the ultimate golden glow makeover. With the range of bronzers out there — creams, powders, even oils — just about anyone can make this look work for them. “As a rule,” says Longo, “apply bronzer to the places on your face where you usually get the most color — apples of cheeks, chin, the tips of your nose and temples – and blend, blend, blend.” Here’s what Vincent used for Linda: Eyes:
- VLNY Soul
- MAC Vanilla shadow
Cheeks:
- VLNY Terra Gold Bronze
- VLNY Soul highlighter
Lips:
- Chanel Whisper Cyber crème
- VLNY Silver Taupe lip liner
Expert tip: Make eyes alluring by lining the outer lids on top and bottom, elongating the line at the outer corners. For shadow, a simple natural shimmer delivers the perfect package.
Exotica
This look is based on a very particular formula: a balance between a smoky eye and an eye-catching vampy lip. The look is updated for 2000 by choosing a lip color with a coral-colored base; this gives that fruity burst that is so hot. For Spirit model Cindy, Vincent Longo chose: Eye:
- MAC Vanilla shadow
- Violet & Black on outer corner of upper lid and on lower lash
Cheeks:
- VLNY Odalisque day/play
Lips:
- VLNY Noblesse
Expert Tip: Though cheeks take a back seat with this look, they should have just a touch of color to keep things looking alive. Choose a coral-based cheek color to complement lips and go sparingly!
